2017 BRDC British F3 champion Enaam Ahmed will learn whether he has joined racing legends as winner of the prestigious McLaren Autosport BRDC Award this Sunday evening (4 December).
The accolade will be announced at the famous Autosport Awards, held at London’s Grosvenor House Hotel.
Alongside fellow nominees Max Fewtrell, Dan Ticktum and Harrison Scott, Ahmed underwent fitness and simulator tests before engaging in two days of rigorous testing at Silverstone’s Grand Prix circuit at the wheel of MSV F2 cars, Mercedes DTM machinery and a McLaren 650S GT3 car, before a series of interviews with a panel of judges, including BRDC Vice-President Derek Warwick.
Should he win, Ahmed will join names including David Coulthard, Dario Franchitti, Paul di Resta and Jenson Button as a recipient of one of the most prestigious awards in world motorsport. The prize includes a paid simulator driver role at the McLaren F1 team, a McLaren F1 test, full BRDC membership, and an Arai GP-6 RC carbon helmet.
Ahmed won 13 races in BRDC British F3 in 2017 on the way to securing the crown with three races still to run.
As well as the McLaren Autosport BRDC Award, Ahmed is also a nominee for the British Club Driver of the Year award, alongside fellow British F3 racer Ben Hingeley.
Full updates on British F3 drivers nominated for awards will be available on the BRDC British F3 social media feeds and website throughout the evening.
