Pavan Ravishankar claimed his first BRDC British F3 win in race two at Silverstone this morning, with Sun Yue Yang a first time podium visitor and Tom Gamble third. Here's what the top-three had to say after the race.
Winner, Pavan Ravishankar:
"I had to get a good start and on the first few laps I pushed as hard as I could to get a gap. The guys behind me were fighting which definitely helped me get a gap and once we got mid-race I realised I had a big gap, so I was able to control the race from there.
"At a level like this it's my first win and it means a lot. As I crossed the line I felt a lot of happiness and joy, but I think it will take a while to sink in. The goal now for race three is a good top-10 finish, which I would be happy with."
Second place, Sun Yue Yang:
"I'd like to thank my team and my coach, my mum and dad and Renault Sport Academy for supporting me. The start was very important and luckily I made a good one and managed to make an overtake. My lap time was quite consistent which was the main thing.
"I'm really happy because this is my first trophy in formula car racing. My team are always working with me, pushing me and this is a great result for us."
Third place, Tom Gamble:
"It feels great to be back on the podium, we had a few issues which we sorted from yesterday and today we had great pace in the race, and we got fastest lap which is fantastic. We're back on the podium and lined-up on the front row for the next race so we'll see what we can do.
"I got past Tristan on the first lap and then our team mate Manuel had a spin coming out of the last corner and I had to take avoiding action and Tristan got back past me which was frustrating and then spent the rest of the race behind him and struggled to get close enough to him to make a move. Eventually I got past him and was able to get a few clear laps in and I hope now that the pace is going to be really good in the last race and we'll see what we can do. We've got the pace to win race two, I've missed the top step and it's all down to me now."
