Chris Dittmann Racing’s Nazim Azman admits that he is pleased with the progress he has made so far in his BRDC British F3 career, and is now focussed on moving further up the field at the next round at Snetterton.
The Malaysian driver had an encouraging debut BRDC British F3 weekend at Oulton Park over Easter weekend, and qualified 12th for his first race, but less than a second off the overall pace, while his second quickest time put him 11th for race three.
“Whilst I was pleased with the progress I made through both practice and qualifying, I feel that there was definitely more time to find, which would have made my aim of making the top ten possible,” he admitted. “However, this was still a positive start to the season and set me up nicely to crack the top ten in each race.”
In an eventful opening race, Azman kept his cool with plenty of drama around him to surge to seventh place in the race, less than a second away from a place in the top-six. He backed that up with another top-10 finish in race two, which included a decent overtake around the outside of Lodge corner, and then an 11th in the final event to put him 10th overall in the championship standings.
“I’m pleased to have achieved two top ten finishes on my debut in the BRDC British F3 Championship, but I know that the weekend could still have been better.
“There are clearly things that I can work on that should improve my performance at future races and I’ll be focusing on these ahead of round two.”
