Lando Norris, a four time race winner in the BRDC British F3 Championship, concluded his maiden Formula One season with his 11th points scoring performance of the season in the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix.
The 20-year-old has received widespread acclaim for his performances with McLaren this season, scoring a total of 49 points to finish 11th overall in the standings. He also out-qualified his teammate Carlos Sainz 11-10 across the season, and finished eighth in the final race of the season.
Norris commented: “It’s been a long season and overall I’m happy. We made some really good improvements and I’ve enjoyed it a lot. As a team, we’ve done an excellent job and I’m already really looking forward to next season. Thanks to the entire team for making my rookie F1 season so cool!”
2014 BRDC F4 Champion George Russell also completed his maiden F1 season with 17th place for Williams. Despite battling with a less competitive car than Norris, Russell still made a very strong impression in his maiden season, out-qualifying his teammate Robert Kubica 21-0 across the season, and taking a best result of 11th at Hockenheim in Germany.
