24 / 25 July
Arden’s Alex Connor is the latest member of the team’s academy to make the move into BRDC British F3, and the 17-year-old showed strong form at Brands Hatch with a best result of fifth.
But while he races under a British flag, he very much considers the Middle East as his home, discovered his love for racing while at a birthday party, and has his eyes set on F1 or Le Mans as an end career goal.
Let’s hear more from Alex…
Where is your hometown and can you tell us anything interesting about where you’re from?
My home town is Dubai, I was born there and have lived there all my life. There are many great opportunities for sport as the weather is great all year round.
Will you be travelling from your home country to race in British F3 or have you moved to live in the UK? If so, where in the UK will you be living?
I travel here at the start of the season and stay here all year then go back at the end of the season. All my family live here so I am able to stay with them most of the year
How did you first become interested in motorsport?
I became interested in motorsport after watching my first F1 races and going to birthday parties at the local kart track. After that I loved racing in general and was lucky enough to join the YRDA (Young Racing Driver Academy) that Arden run.
Who has been your biggest career influence so far?
My biggest career influence so far has to be Arden as they have pushed me and helped me from starting in cars to where I am now.
Tell us about your career so far and how it has got you to this position in British F3 now?
This will be my third year in cars after starting in 2019. I have done two British F4 seasons with Arden after finishing fourth last season. We thought British F3 was the best way to go after the British F4 season as I know most of the tracks, which would help as I’ve not been able to get back to the UK for most of the pre-season testing due to lockdowns.
Which circuit are you most looking forward to racing on?
I’m Definitely looking forward to Spa this year. None of the current F3 grid has driven the track so it will be an interesting weekend as we are all in the same boat.
What is your aim for the 2021 British F3 season?
Obviously, I am going for the championship win but would be happy with a top three finish this year.
What is your biggest hidden talent?
To be honest, I haven’t found mine yet. Probably why it's called a hidden talent!
What are your ultimate career ambitions?
The main goal is to get to the top of motorsport like Formula 1 but I would love to compete in Le Mans one day, as it is one of the biggest races of the year.
