What they said: Oulton Park race one

What they said: Oulton Park race one

Saturday 1 August 2020

Kiern Jewiss, Ulysse De Pauw and Nazim Azman were the top-three finishers in the amended result for the first BRDC British F3 race of the 2020 season at Oulton Park. See their reaction in the video below. We'll bring you a full transcript at the end of race three, which starts shortly.

Apologies for the brief sound interference at the start of this clip.

Winner - Kiern Jewiss, Douglas Motorsport:

"It's good, obviously the two front boys jumped the start and I got Nazim off the line, going from fourth to third and then obviously just remained within striking distance really. It's tough to follow around here as we all know and just brought the car round to finish third.

"I was quite close [to Louis Foster] early on, but after that the tyres are hot and I was struggling with the aero. Obviously now for the fourth race this weekend you have to be fast as well, you can't just finish wherever so I backed off a bit to try and do a lap and we were second fastest so really happy."

Second - Ulysse De Pauw, Douglas Motorsport:

"It's a pretty good start, starting with a podium is good, a 1-2 for the team is even better. I had a pretty good start, I managed to gain one position, and after that of course the others had a jump start so we gained two positions with the penalties, but it's a good way to start the season and I'm looking forward to the next race.

"Hopefully [the first win], that's the goal, I'm sure that can come at least this season but for sure we will try to push for that already this weekend."

Third - Nazim Azman, Carlin:

"I think I reacted too fast [at the start] and I dumped the clutch, and I think that wasn't the best of ideas. Honestly, I think P3 is good but with the pace we had I think I could have won the race if I'd just had a good start, because the front two in front of me obviously were penalised, but at the end of the day a podium is a podium and I'll take it either way, it's still a good start to the season.

"Hopefully [in race three] I can improve my starts, now at least I understand it a bit more and we can get a better launch. A podium again would be very nice and would help a lot in the championship."
